Gulfport Combat Readiness Training Center hosts Sentry South-Southern Strike 2025
SUMMARY: From now until early February, low-flying aircraft in the area may indicate military training, as the Southern Strike exercise brings hundreds of personnel to the Combat Readiness Training Center in Gulfport. The exercise, involving the Air Force and Navy, includes combat search and rescue, irregular warfare, and mobility force simulations. Participants practice high-speed, low-altitude flights and coordination in a simulated environment. The training promotes joint capabilities and helps active duty personnel learn from seasoned guard and reserve members. Exercises take place over the Gulf, at the Air National Guard base, and Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg and Gulfport.

Seeing a low-flying aircraft or helicopter from now until early February could mean witnessing military training in action.
