SUMMARY: Gayle Manchin, the federal co-chairwoman of the Appalachian Regional Commission, launched a grant program to enhance collaboration among the 13 Appalachian states, aiming for greater impact from their projects. Following the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021, she encouraged states to work together, sharing resources and culture. The Appalachian Regional Initiative for Stronger Economies (ARISE) offers grants that benefit multiple states, requiring collaboration. Recently, the commission announced $33.5 million in grants for projects, including cybersecurity training, disaster hubs, and a “battery belt.” Over $121 million has already been awarded across 46 projects, highlighting successful federal-state partnerships.

NC Courage wins 2-1 against Angel City FC
