Neighbor yelled homophobic slurs before brutally beating 22-year-old CNA, loved ones say

SUMMARY: A Bethalto, Illinois man, Joshua Morrison, is jailed after brutally beating 22-year-old Winston Rulo at their apartment and setting a vehicle on fire. Relatives say Morrison shouted homophobic slurs before the attack, causing Rulo serious injuries including skull, nose, and eye fractures. Rulo, openly gay since his teens, had no prior contact with Morrison. Police required a SWAT team to arrest Morrison after he refused to surrender. Morrison faces three felony charges: aggravated arson, aggravated battery, and arson. Rulo’s family is seeking hate crime charges. Fundraisers are underway to help cover Rulo’s medical costs.

‘Spaghetti Wars’ creator dishes on show before airing in STL

SUMMARY: “Spaghetti Wars,” a new St. Louis-based reality TV show created by local chef Puppy Cam, premieres this weekend at the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase. The pilot episode, filmed over eight months, blends humor, drama, and emotion, highlighting food as a universal cultural heart. After the screening at High Point Theater, Cam and executive producer Barry Mendelson will host a Q&A. The project was partly funded by Missouri state tax credits and aims to evolve into a full series.

Eight months later, the “Spaghetti Wars” pilot episode is ready for public consumption. It will debut Saturday night at the Hi-Pointe Theatre as part of the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase.

Bolivar restaurant business owners sued for defamation, breach of contract
