Former paramedic accused of sexual abuse in back of ambulance
SUMMARY: James Madahi, a former Flagler County paramedic, is in custody after being accused of video voyeurism and sexually abusing an unconscious patient in October 2021. Authorities discovered footage of the incident, which occurred while transporting the victim to the hospital. Flagler County Sheriff’s officials believe there may be additional victims, suggesting that these types of offenses often recur rather than being isolated incidents. The victim was unaware of the abuse until deputies informed her about the video evidence. Madahi is currently facing serious charges stemming from this case.

James Melady, of Daytona Beach, was arrested and is facing charges of sexual battery and video voyeurism on an adult.

Musk’s next task? Reviving Tesla in Europe where sales have plunged by more than half in a year
SUMMARY: Tesla sales in several European countries plummeted in April, with Sweden, the Netherlands, and Denmark seeing declines over 60%, and France and Norway also experiencing sharp drops. Germany’s first-quarter sales fell 62%, signaling broader troubles amid protests and boycotts tied to Elon Musk’s political controversies. Analysts cite factors including Tesla’s aging models, rising competition like China’s BYD, factory shutdowns for Model Y upgrades, and delays in EU approval for self-driving features. Despite a 71% profit drop in Q1 and the sales slump, Tesla’s stock rose after Musk said he would reduce his Washington government duties to focus more on Tesla operations. Italy saw a modest 3% sales increase.

Hegseth keeps 2 aircraft carriers in Middle East for another week for battle with Yemen’s Houthis
SUMMARY: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has extended the USS Harry S. Truman’s deployment in the Middle East for another week, maintaining two U.S. carrier strike groups to counter Houthi rebels. The Truman’s deployment, which started in March, is part of an intensified campaign against Iran-backed Houthis, following increased strikes since mid-March. This is part of President Trump’s strategy to stop Houthi attacks on vital Red Sea shipping lanes. U.S. forces have hit over 1,000 targets in Yemen under Operation Rough Rider. The deployment has raised concerns about maintenance schedules and sailors’ extended time away from home.

Protestors rally against Trump outside Orange County jail over immigration policies
SUMMARY: Dozens of demonstrators gathered at the Orange County Jail on May Day to protest immigration policies under President Trump, criticizing the county’s cooperation with ICE. Felipe Sousa-Lazaballet, executive director of Hope CommUnity Center, called for the end of agreements that make the jail a “hub” for ICE, arguing that the county is underpaid for housing detainees. He emphasized the human cost of the detentions, citing 1,018 bookings in early 2025, compared to 1,016 for all of 2024. Protesters also opposed the county’s new 287(g) agreement, which empowers local corrections officers to enforce federal immigration warrants.
