SUMMARY: The Trump administration has withheld over \$6 billion in federal education grants meant for immigrant and low-income students, citing concerns these funds support a “radical leftwing agenda.” The Office of Management and Budget claimed some money was used to assist undocumented immigrants or promote LGBTQ+ causes. This freeze affects after-school, summer programs, and English learner services, causing uncertainty for schools and camps. Advocates say the administration conflates all English learners with undocumented immigrants, ignoring that most are U.S.-born.
