SUMMARY: During Scrapin’ the Coast in Biloxi and D’Iberville, over 100 citations were issued for illegally squatted vehicles, a first under new state law making such squatting illegal. The Biloxi Police Department reported 406 total citations for the event’s Friday and Saturday, with 120 for squatted vehicles, accounting for 30% of tickets written. Lieutenant Candace Young emphasized strong enforcement efforts on traffic laws and acknowledged a period of adjustment as new regulations take hold. Additionally, Biloxi police towed 60 vehicles during the event. Ticket numbers were down overall compared to previous years despite the new citations for squatting.

Squatted vehicles are those that have been modified to have their front fender four or more inches higher than the rear fender.
