Few morning showers Sunday then more rain Monday
SUMMARY: Unsettled weather continues with scattered showers tonight as a cold front slowly moves through. Expect a few light showers early Sunday morning, but conditions will mostly dry up with sunshine breaking through by afternoon and highs reaching low 80s. Sunday will be mostly pleasant after the morning showers pass. However, another frontal system will bring a better chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms Monday, mainly during the morning rush through early afternoon. Monday’s rain should clear by evening, leading to drier, less humid, and more enjoyable weather from Tuesday through Thursday with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.

Bryan Kohberger sentenced to life in prison for murdering 4 Idaho students
SUMMARY: Bryan Kohberger pleaded guilty to the 2022 murders of four University of Idaho students—Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves, and Ethan Chapin—and was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Kohberger, a criminology graduate student, was identified through DNA evidence and cellphone data after a six-week investigation. The motive remains unknown, and he spared two roommates during the attack. Kohberger waived his right to appeal in a deal to avoid the death penalty. Victims’ families expressed mixed feelings about the plea. Foundations and the University of Idaho have established memorials and scholarships honoring the victims’ legacies.

Quick break from the daily storm chances
SUMMARY: After weeks of heavy rain and unsettled weather, Tuesday brought a break across central and eastern Kentucky with drier air, lower humidity, and temperatures in the upper 80s, near normal for late July. Midweek will heat up with highs in the low 90s and humidity increasing, pushing heat index values near 100°F. Overnight lows will remain muggy in the upper 60s to low 70s. A stray shower can’t be ruled out Thursday afternoon, but most will stay dry. By Friday and into the weekend, scattered storms return as a stalled boundary interacts with hot, humid air, but no widespread washouts are expected.
