FBI warns Mississippi authorities of online terrorist group exploiting children
SUMMARY: The FBI has warned Mississippi authorities about a harmful online group called 764 that targets children through social media and video games. This group uses fake identities to befriend young users and encourage harmful behaviors, including self-harm and sharing inappropriate content. While Marshall County has not reported any cases, officials urge parents to closely monitor their children’s online activity and watch for changes in behavior. Two leaders of the group were recently arrested, including one overseas. Law enforcement emphasizes the importance of vigilance to help keep children safe from online dangers.

The group is called “764” and, according to the FBI, makes contact with children through social media and online games, then encourages them to hurt themselves and others. It’s not a reprint. Why Sacred Harp singers are revamping an iconic pre-Civil War hymnal
SUMMARY: Singers at Holly Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Georgia continue the 180-year-old tradition of Sacred Harp singing, a communal, four-part harmony style using the distinctive shape-note hymnal first published in 1844. The Sacred Harp Publishing Company is releasing a new edition in 2025, featuring cuts, additions, and songs by living composers. Sacred Harp singing, done in a hollow square formation, is inclusive of all backgrounds and faiths, providing a spiritual and social experience beyond traditional church settings. The tradition preserves rich history, connects generations, and fosters community through powerful, accessible group singing.

Surge in deadly bobcat fever
SUMMARY: A Williamson County vet clinic warns of a surge in bobcat fever, a deadly tick-borne disease affecting cats. Transmitted by Lone Star ticks, the disease is usually harmless in bobcats but often fatal in domestic cats, who may die within 72 hours of symptoms like fever, lethargy, poor appetite, and yellowing skin or eyes. The Fairview Animal Clinic reported nine cases in two weeks, with only two survivors. Dr. Eric Ful stresses prevention and early detection, recommending keeping cats indoors or using the prescription Cerestore prevention collar. While dogs and humans can carry ticks, they do not get the disease.
