Elon Musk leaving Trump administration, stepping away from DOGE
SUMMARY: Elon Musk is stepping down from his temporary government role, where he focused on cutting wasteful spending. Although frustrated with the “big beautiful Bill” for not reducing spending enough, his departure was planned due to a 130-day work limit as a special government employee. Musk criticized current spending as unsustainable, highlighting the need for deeper cuts. Discussions in Congress center on a rescissions package to make some savings permanent, though results remain uncertain, with initial goals of $1 trillion in savings unmet. Meanwhile, political attention shifts to President Biden’s condition, with Congress seeking further oversight and interviews linked to recent revelations.
Elon Musk is officially stepping away from his advisory role in President Donald Trump’s administration, posting Wednesday that his time as a Special Government Employee has ended. The billionaire entrepreneur was tasked with leading the Department of Government Efficiency — or DOGE — a Trump-created initiative aimed at reducing federal waste. The announcement came just one day after Musk criticized Trump’s legislative centerpiece — a sweeping bill combining tax cuts with immigration enforcement — calling it “a massive spending bill” that “undermines the work” of DOGE.

South Florida to see less showers in the coming days
SUMMARY: South Florida will see fewer showers in the coming days as a frontal boundary moves south, reducing rain chances from 50% to around 30-40% through Sunday and Monday. The atmosphere’s moisture is dropping, ending recent heavy rainfall and flooding. Showers will be scattered and lighter, unlike the intense storms earlier. Dry air behind the boundary will bring a needed break, allowing soil to recover before rain chances increase midweek. The tropics show a 40% chance of development in the eastern Atlantic, but it’s expected to move northward without impacting Florida. Overall, the weekend looks better with less rain and improving conditions.

CBS Miami highlights free mammogram program with mobile mammovan
SUMMARY: CBS Miami is promoting a free mammogram program via a mobile Mammovan in Miami Gardens, offering hospital-quality screenings on-site. Women can walk in without appointments or prescriptions, regardless of insurance status. The process includes demographic intake, a screening mammogram, and an ultrasound for those with dense breast tissue, all completed in about ten minutes. Results are sent within 24 hours to the patient and their doctor. This convenient, no-cost service removes barriers to breast cancer screening by providing all necessary tests in one location, encouraging more women to take advantage of these life-saving exams.
CBS News Miami anchor Betty Nguyen went inside the mammovan to show how women, insured or uninsured, can receive free mammograms and same-day results in just 10 minutes.

Russia and Belarus launch military exercise that fueled Western concerns
SUMMARY: Russia and Belarus launched the joint military exercise “Zapad 2025,” involving thousands of troops, raising Western concerns amid Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine. The drills, held in both countries and lasting through Tuesday, aim to demonstrate their close defense ties and Russia’s military strength. Recent Russian drone incursions into Polish airspace heightened fears of broader conflict. Belarus initially planned 13,000 troops near its western border but later reduced numbers and shifted maneuvers inward. Exercises include practicing the use of Russian nuclear weapons and new Oreshnik missiles, which Russia may station in Belarus. Belarus also recently freed political prisoners, signaling a possible thaw with the West.
