Electricity cost concerns grow amid push for more AI data centers
SUMMARY: Tech companies building large AI data centers are contributing to rising electricity bills in parts of the U.S., particularly within the PJM Interconnection service area. The Trump administration’s AI Action Plan aims to speed up permits for these energy-intensive centers, with firms like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft expanding rapidly. Consumers in Ohio and New Jersey have seen electricity price increases of 10–20%. Experts say data centers influence electricity demand and planning but are not the sole cause of bill hikes. Supply-demand dynamics and power market auctions, which recently hit record price increases, also play major roles. Some data centers are mitigating costs by adopting renewable energy sources.

President Trump tells Senate to stay in session, work on conformations | FOX 5 News
SUMMARY: Senators are working through the weekend instead of taking their usual August recess, following Senate Majority Leader John Thune’s order to stay in session due to delays in confirming President Trump’s judicial and executive nominees. Thune and Republicans blame Democrats for obstructing the confirmation process, calling it unprecedented. Democrats counter by criticizing the quality of the nominees. President Trump urged the Senate via social media to confirm over 150 pending nominees, calling for action against the “lunatic left.” To break the stalemate, Republicans are considering changing Senate rules to speed up confirmations. Some progress has been made, including confirming the education policy pick.
The Senate will stay in session over the weekend after President Trump told lawmakers to focus on confirming his appointments.

Does Lunchly make a healthy lunch kit?
SUMMARY: Lunchly markets itself as a healthier alternative to Lunchables, endorsed by influencers, with lower calories, fat, and sugar. However, Consumer Reports found Lunchly kits similarly processed, containing sugar substitutes and high sodium levels. Tests revealed concerning lead levels, especially from the included chocolate bar, which could be reduced by skipping the candy, though kids are likely to eat it. Nutrition experts caution against daily consumption due to processed meats and additives. While Lunchly complies with safety laws, experts recommend homemade lunch kits with whole foods for better nutrition, fewer additives, and lower sodium — a healthier, cheaper option for busy parents.
Move over Lunchables — a competitor called Lunchly advertises a healthier spin on your kid’s favorite lunch kit. But how healthy are Lunchly lunches?
