SUMMARY: On Hilton Head Island, HHIFR responded to a medical emergency involving a possible shark bite. Shore Beach Services and HHIFR provided care, deeming the injury non-life threatening before the person was airlifted to Savannah. According to the Georgia Aquarium, shark bites are rare, with humans not considered prey. Warning signs of aggression include specific swimming patterns and low-light activity. Remember, shark attacks are far less likely than other beach hazards.
