Death investigator saves life of person wrongly believed to be dead in Knoxville

SUMMARY: A Medicolegal Death Investigator in Knoxville, Kenzie Sellers, saved a life after responding to a report of a dead body at a home. Upon examination, Sellers discovered the person was still alive and immediately provided life-saving measures with help from Knoxville Police. The individual was revived and alive at the time of the report. Knoxville Fire Department is investigating how the initial death determination was made, reassigning involved employees pending the inquiry. The Tennessee Department of Health’s EMS will also conduct an independent investigation. The forensic center praised Sellers for her quick thinking and heroism.
