SUMMARY: Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen criticized reports of U.S. intelligence gathering on Greenland, calling spying against an ally unacceptable. Denmark summoned the top U.S. diplomat following a Wall Street Journal article claiming officials under U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard sought information on Greenland’s independence movement and resource sentiment. The U.S. Embassy declined comments. Frederiksen dismissed the report as rumors. Gabbard condemned leaks, accusing the Journal of aiding “deep state” actors. SUMMARY: President Donald Trump has shifted his focus from immigration to crime, boosting his approval ratings. A recent AP-NORC poll shows 53% of U.S. adults approve of his tough-on-crime approach, surpassing support for his handling of immigration, the economy, or the Russia-Ukraine war. SUMMARY: The controversial Florida immigration detention facility in the Everglades, nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz,” is expected to be empty within days, according to Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie. This follows a federal judge’s order to close the center by late October, which Florida and the federal government are appealing. The facility, opened in July with over $245 million spent, has faced opposition from environmental groups and the Miccosukee Tribe due to threats to sensitive wetlands. The judge mandated detainee transfers and removal of infrastructure, while Florida plans a second center called “Deportation Depot.” The stay request decision is pending.
