SUMMARY: After 33 days of searching following deadly flooding, rescue crews in Unoy County recovered the last missing body, identified as 29-year-old Rosa Andrad, an employee of Impact Plastics. Rosa was among six workers who were lost in the incident. She was last heard from on September 27 while at work. Her body was found near I-26 during debris cleanup operations. The recovery brings relief to her family and colleagues, although the investigation into the flooding and its causes continues. Authorities and Impact Plastics are collaborating on this investigation and have not yet released detailed findings.
Rosa was the last missing person in Unicoi County after flooding from Helene swept several employees away in September. She leaves behind a husband and two children.

A short La Niña is coming soon. What does that mean for weather near you?
SUMMARY: The U.S. is on “La Niña watch,” with the Climate Prediction Center forecasting a short, weak La Niña forming this fall, similar to last winter. Despite its weakness, La Niña influences weather patterns: typically causing drier, warmer conditions in the southern U.S. and northern Mexico, and wetter weather in the Pacific Northwest and Ohio Valley. Last winter reflected these trends, though some areas like east Texas and Kentucky saw wetter conditions. La Niña’s strongest impact usually occurs in winter months and may also intensify the hurricane season, with NOAA predicting a 50% chance of an above-normal hurricane season this year.

2 Tennessee public buildings rank in top 100 ugliest in the U.S.
SUMMARY: A survey by the New Jersey Real Estate Network, involving 3,012 participants, ranked the top 100 ugliest public buildings in the U.S. Tennessee had two entries: Knoxville Civic Auditorium and Coliseum ranked 46th, criticized for its 1961 mid-century blocky design catering more to capacity than aesthetics. The Nashville Metro Courthouse barely made the list at 100, noted for its grand but stern, classical style. Kentucky’s Owensboro City Hall was 44th, while Alabama had five entries, the most by any state. The survey’s top ugliest public building was Flint’s Municipal Center in Michigan. Many listed buildings were courthouses or judicial centers.

US teen influencer claims innocence after charges dropped in Antarctica flight case
SUMMARY: Ethan Guo, an American pilot and influencer, was charged by Chilean authorities for submitting a false flight plan and unauthorized landing in Antarctica. The charges were dropped after Guo agreed to donate $30,000 to a children’s cancer foundation, leave Chile when possible, and avoid reentry for three years. Guo’s defense claims he had authorization to deviate his route due to weather and technical issues. Guo insists he received explicit permission to land at the Chilean base amid instrument failures and dangerous conditions. Prosecutors argue he endangered global air traffic. Guo has been stranded in Antarctica for weeks due to severe winter and plane restrictions.
