Coast churches send gifts to children overseas through Operation Christmas Child
SUMMARY: Churches along the Gulf Coast are participating in Operation Christmas Child, a project by Samaritan’s Purse that collects shoebox gifts for children who may not receive Christmas presents. Volunteers, often called “Santa’s elves,” work year-round collecting supplies for these boxes, which include toys, school supplies, and hygiene items. Bay View Church’s Jenny Russum emphasizes creating specific boxes for different age groups and genders. The initiative not only provides gifts but also includes spiritual resources and teachings.
