SUMMARY: Spring has likely arrived in Mississippi, evidenced by the blossoming fruit trees around the state. Cherry Creek Orchards in Pontotoc, with its stunning peach blossoms, has caught significant attention, leading to an influx of inquiries about photographic opportunities among these beautiful trees. To accommodate the interest, the orchard welcomes visitors this weekend for photo sessions amidst the blossoms, while reminding guests to follow a few guidelines to ensure safety and respect for the orchard’s operations. These include parking instructions, caution around farm equipment and electric fences, and importantly, not picking the blossoms to ensure a fruitful peach harvest later on. Visitors are also reminded of the presence of bees and the importance of respecting the bloom that contributes to Cherry Creek’s success. The orchard suggests visitors might consider donating for their hospitality and invites sharing of photos on social media.

A Sanctuary in Goodman: The Magic of the Public Library
SUMMARY: In Goodman, Mississippi, the small library housed in a former church transformed under Rachel Floyd’s leadership since 2021. Despite the town’s high poverty and limited opportunities, the library has become a vibrant sanctuary for children. Its unique features, like a spiral staircase leading to a kids’ area and displays of local art, create a welcoming, lively environment. Rachel’s dedication to diverse programs—storytimes, crafts, STEAM clubs—boosted book checkouts from 83 to 823 over three years. More than a library, it is a community hub where children feel valued, inspired, and free to explore, learn, and grow.
