Central Florida to be colder than normal with parade of fronts. Here’s what to expect
SUMMARY: A series of cold fronts will impact Central Florida over the next two weeks, resulting in temperatures colder than normal. This week, high pressure will bring cooler, drier winds with daytime highs in the mid to upper 60s and nighttime lows in the low to mid 40s. A front arriving late Friday will drop weekend temperatures further, with Saturday highs around 10 degrees below normal, reaching the low to mid 60s and potential frost overnight. Next week starts warmer but will see another cold front, bringing highs back into the mid to upper 50s and possibly freezing temperatures by next weekend.

A story of love and sacrifice helps heal a young girl with sickle cell disease
SUMMARY: Aaliyah Reed battled sickle cell disease for five years, enduring frequent hospital visits and severe pain. Her family held onto hope for a miracle, which arrived through her 10-year-old brother, Elijah. Doctors recommended a bone marrow transplant, but finding a match is rare. Elijah was a 100% match and bravely underwent surgery to save his sister. The transplant was successful, curing Aaliyah of sickle cell disease. Now, she enjoys a pain-free childhood, running and playing freely. The Reed family celebrated Mother’s Day for the first time without sickle cell struggles, grateful for Elijah’s heroic sacrifice that gave Aaliyah a new life.

There is an incredible story of love and sacrifice out of Plant City that helped to heal a little girl from sickle cell disease. Aliyah Reid spent the first five years of her life battling sickle cell disease, which can cause severe pain episodes and blood flow problems. Her family had to watch their little girl go through life in pain. The Reids said they were hoping for a miracle—little did they know that miracle could come from their oldest son.

Trump to meet with Syria’s al-Sharaa as he weighs easing sanctions after Assad’s overthrow
SUMMARY: President Donald Trump will meet Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa in Saudi Arabia. Al-Sharaa, once an al-Qaida insurgent and leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, helped overthrow Bashar Assad last year. Although al-Sharaa is wanted for terrorism charges in Iraq, Gulf leaders support his government as a counterbalance to Iranian influence in Syria. The U.S. has yet to recognize al-Sharaa’s regime or lift existing sanctions, but Trump is considering removing them to give Syria “a fresh start,” influenced by Turkey’s Erdogan. Trump is expected to express hopes for al-Sharaa’s success in stabilizing Syria, marking a shift from his prior skepticism.
