The U.S. has yet to recognize al-Sharaa’s regime or lift existing sanctions, but Trump is considering removing them to give Syria “a fresh start,” influenced by Turkey’s Erdogan. Trump is expected to express hopes for al-Sharaa’s success in stabilizing Syria, marking a shift from his prior skepticism.
