Buchanan, Biloxi Indians aim to build on baseball success
SUMMARY: Hawtin Buchanan, a Biloxi High alumnus and former Ole Miss pitcher, has quickly found success as the head baseball coach at his alma mater. Since his appointment just over a year ago, Buchanan has led the Biloxi High baseball team to an impressive 22-7 record in his first season and a strong start in the subsequent year. Despite a brief stint in professional baseball and an initial inclination towards sports media, Buchanan found his calling in coaching after beginning as a substitute teacher and assistant coach. Under his leadership, the team clinched a region championship in 2023 for the first time since 2019, although they were eliminated early in the playoffs. Buchanan emphasizes the importance of competition in practice and looks to build upon last year's success with a talented roster, including a strong group of seniors.
