These were Texas’ fastest-growing cities in 2024, according to new Census Bureau estimates

SUMMARY: Suburban communities in Texas are experiencing rapid growth, with Fulshear, Celina, and Leander ranking among the top five fastest-growing U.S. cities with populations over 50,000. Fulshear grew by 27%, Celina by 18.2%, and Leander by 8.7% between July 2023 and July 2024. Smaller cities like Princeton and Jarrell also saw significant growth. Texas added 562,941 new residents, making it the second-most populous state. Houston, San Antonio, and Fort Worth had the largest population increases. Meanwhile, Richardson, Lakeway, and Wichita Falls experienced declines. Five Texas cities rank among the top 15 largest nationwide.

Vehicle burglary gone bad led to deadly shooting of Infowars employee, affidavit says

SUMMARY: A vehicle burglary led to the deadly shooting of Infowars employee Jamie White in Austin on March 9. White attempted to stop four suspects, including 17-year-old Eloy Adrian Camarillo, from burglarizing his car at an apartment complex. Camarillo was arrested on April 30 and charged with capital murder. Surveillance footage and cellphone data linked Camarillo to the incident. The suspects, targeting Kia vehicles known for theft ease, were involved in multiple car thefts. White, 36, was shot in the neck and pronounced dead shortly after the incident. Camarillo admitted to breaking the window and fleeing after the shooting.
