Asian shares fall after Wall St retreats on fears over hit to the US economy from Trump’s tariffs
SUMMARY: Asian shares opened lower on Tuesday following a sharp decline in U.S. stocks amidst the impending implementation of higher tariffs by President Trump on Canada, Mexico, and China. The Nikkei 225 dropped 1.9%, and the Hang Seng lost 1.6%, as fears of retaliatory measures from China, particularly targeting U.S. agricultural exports, loomed. The S&P 500 fell 1.8%, with Trump’s tariff announcement casting doubt on future negotiations. Weaker-than-expected U.S. manufacturing data added to market pessimism, with significant losses for tech stocks like Nvidia and Tesla. European markets performed better following easing inflation reports, while crude oil and cryptocurrency prices also declined.

South Florida Weather for Friday 3/21/2025 6AM
SUMMARY: This morning in South Florida, hazy conditions persist due to air quality issues linked to smoke from a brush fire in southern Dade County. The latest drought map shows severe drought affecting 95% of Broward County and 59% of Miami-Dade, while Monroe County remains under a moderate drought. Windy weather with gusts up to 30 mph complicates fire containment, and a fire weather watch is in effect as humidity may drop below 20%. Cooler morning temperatures in the upper 50s to 60s will rise to the low 70s along the coast, with a pleasant spring weekend forecasted before potential rain next week.

NEXT Weather meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez says Friday will be mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the low to mid 70s.

Brush fires fueling outages, affecting traffic in and out of the Keys
SUMMARY: Brush fires south of Florida City are causing power, internet, and cell phone outages in parts of South Miami-Dade. Road closures in and out of the Florida Keys have led to significant traffic congestion. Firefighters are actively working to contain the blaze, spraying water along the crowded Overseas Highway. Residents like Kylie Berrio are missing work due to repeated highway closures and traffic jams. Smoke poses health concerns, especially for vulnerable populations. While one road remains open, officials warn that less than a third of the 24,000-acre fire is contained, urging residents to stay indoors if smoke is present.

Access to the Florida Keys has been severely limited as firefighters work to contain a massive brush fire in southern Miami-Dade that’s caused traffic delays and partially blocked vehicle access this week.
