SUMMARY: Alabama will experience a shift to wetter weather soon, with today likely the last dry day. Temperatures will be in the upper 80s Wednesday, with increasing tropical moisture triggering scattered showers and isolated storms, especially in the afternoon. The weekend looks wet with waves of storms, particularly Saturday afternoon and evening, bringing a chance of strong thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts and possible flash flooding. Sunday may start with storms and continue through the day. While not a total washout, outdoor plans should be flexible, and residents are advised to monitor weather updates closely.

Alabama’s weather forecast will flip to become wetter soon, with strong thunderstorms possible over the weekend.

Continuing Coverage: Changes coming to deadly Foley intersection
SUMMARY: Changes are underway at a deadly intersection in Foley at Airport Road and County Road 65, long known for fatal crashes. Residents like Leslie Purdue describe it as one of the most dangerous spots, with multiple deaths including friends lost on this road. City records show eight fatalities last year alone. In response, Baldwin County is transferring the intersection’s ownership to the City of Foley, which plans to implement safety measures including a four-way stop, reducing the speed limit from 45 to 35 mph, and enhanced lighting. These improvements aim to prevent further tragedies and could begin within weeks.

First Responders Compete for Blood Donations | June 4, 2025 | News 19 at 5 p.m.
SUMMARY: On June 4, 2025, Madison’s police and fire departments held the first-ever “Boots and Badges” Summer Blood Drive, a friendly competition to raise awareness and donations for LifeSouth Blood Center. Though usually working as a team to save lives at emergency scenes, the two departments competed to collect blood donations essential for surgeries, injuries, and illnesses. Both emphasize the urgent, daily need for blood supply, which directly supports patients upon hospital arrival. They urged the community to donate, highlighting that the ultimate winner is the life saved—a patient in critical need. This initiative strengthens Madison’s emergency response and healthcare system.

On any given day, the Madison Police Department and Madison Fire Department may work together at a house fire, wreck or any number of things. In those moments, they’re working on the same team. Wednesday, however, they competed against one another.
