NASA identifies newly discovered object as an interstellar comet that will keep a safe distance

SUMMARY: NASA has discovered a new interstellar comet, designated 3I/Atlas, detected with the Atlas telescope in Chile. This marks the third known interstellar object passing through our solar system. Astronomers worldwide are monitoring it to study its size and shape. It will be visible through September and again in December. Previous interstellar visitors include ‘Oumuamua, found in 2017, and comet 21/Borisov, discovered in 2019. The new comet poses no threat to Earth.

City of St. Augustine files eminent domain lawsuit against property owners amid flood mitigation project dispute
