16 billion passwords discovered in massive data breach
SUMMARY: A massive data breach has exposed 16 billion passwords from social media and other sites, making it the largest known single database of stolen credentials. Cybersecurity experts warn that most people likely have compromised passwords in the database, which contains recent—not old—passwords. Unlike typical breaches targeting one organization, this breach compiles stolen credentials from multiple sources on the dark web. Experts strongly advise changing all passwords immediately, avoiding reuse across accounts, and enabling two-factor authentication to add a security layer. Users should also avoid clicking unknown links in messages, as attackers may exploit this breach for scams.
Researchers have found that about 16 billion passwords were leaked in a recent global data breach. FOX 4 spoke with a UT Dallas expert about how you can protect your information.

Israel targets and kills Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif in Gaza as journalist toll grows
SUMMARY: Israel’s military killed Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif and others in a Gaza airstrike, confirmed by Gaza hospital officials. Israel accused al-Sharif of leading a Hamas cell, allegations Al Jazeera denies, calling the strike a “targeted assassination.” The strike also killed Al Jazeera’s Mohamed Qreiqeh and four other journalists sheltering near Gaza’s largest hospital. This incident follows an intensified Israeli smear campaign against journalists documenting the war, including prior accusations against other Al Jazeera staff. The UN condemned the strike as a grave breach of international law. The Committee to Protect Journalists states at least 186 journalists have died in Gaza, marking this conflict as the deadliest for reporters.

DJ Campbell shifting into leadership role as the Longhorns' offensive line comes together
SUMMARY: Texas senior offensive lineman DJ Campbell approaches his final season determined to improve after feeling he left “food on his plate” last year. With 30 starts and 37 games played, Campbell is the most experienced Longhorn lineman and emerging as a vocal leader for a young offensive line. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and offensive line coach Kyle Flood are rebuilding the unit, with Campbell the only returning starter at his position. Despite a season-ending injury to a teammate, Campbell praises sophomore Brandon Baker’s effort and Flood’s teaching, emphasizing learning and readiness for when players step into key roles.

Tropical update: Tracking two disturbances for possible development
SUMMARY: Tropical waves in the Atlantic basin are being closely monitored this week. One wave near the coast of Africa has a 50% chance of developing over the next seven days, while another in the central Atlantic has about a 20% chance and may fizzle out. A possible secondary wave could form near Africa as well. This pattern aligns with typical Atlantic hurricane season trends, which are quiet in June and July, peak around September 10th, and decline through October. Both the Euro and GFS models currently keep these disturbances north of the Caribbean, but rain chances and isolated storms will continue into next week.
