JPS Schools Closure
SUMMARY: The superintendent of JPS, Dr. Errick Greene, has proposed an optimization plan due to the decline in enrollment and to make the district more competitive. Enrollment has been declining by an average of 4% each year, with a steeper decline in elementary grades. Smaller schools with fewer students are more costly to operate than larger schools. Dr. Greene and his team have recommended closing several schools by 2024 and making changes to feeder patterns. However, these plans are not official yet and it is uncertain what will happen.
Schools recommended for closure
