The threat of severe storms later this has increased, according to the National Weather Service in .

An Enhanced risk is now in place for a good portion of central Mississippi from late Friday afternoon into the overnight. With higher confidence in severe weather, the primary threats will be tornadoes, some of which could be strong, along with damaging winds and large hail.

Northern Mississippi–

Partly sunny this morning, then clearing, with highs near 80. Becoming mostly cloudy with a slight of showers after midnight. Lows will be in the mid-60s.

Central Mississippi–

Sunny with highs in the lower to mid-80s. Becoming mostly cloudy overnight, with lows in the mid-60s.

Southern Mississippi–

Mostly sunny with highs in the lower 80s. Becoming mostly cloudy tonight with lows in the mid to upper 60s.

Bond remains at $1 million for Mississippi teen accused of killing mother

SUMMARY: A 14-year-old girl in Rankin County allegedly killed her mother, Ashley Smylie, and her step-father in a shooting. The girl, Carly Gregg, appeared in court where her defense requested a preliminary hearing and a reduction in her bond. The judge found probable cause in the case and maintained Gregg's bond at $1 million. The step-father reported that Gregg shot him in the shoulder before he took the weapon from her. Gregg was located near the residence and taken into custody without incident. She has been charged with murder and attempted murder and is being held in the Rankin County Adult Detention Center. Smylie was a teacher at Northwest Rankin High School, where Gregg was a student.
