Rankin County murder under investigation

Two arrested for fatal shooting in Rankin County
SUMMARY: Two people have been arrested in connection to the murder of 20-year-old Bryon Horn in Ranken County. Ryan Detet has been charged with murder while Laney Bella Engel is charged with accessory after the fact of murder. They got into an argument with Horn before the deadly shooting at a home in the reservoir area. Horn is the older brother of Cameron Horn Crook, who was killed in Jackson on March 25th, but it is unclear if the deaths are connected. The investigation is ongoing, and both suspects have turned themselves in to authorities.

Mississippi business leaders encourage Medicaid expansion
SUMMARY: Business owners in Mississippi are urging the state legislature to expand Medicaid before the end of the 2024 session. One business owner from Tupelo states that other conservative states have successfully expanded Medicaid and Mississippi should follow suit. The president of a long-standing family-owned business in Tupelo called Reed is calling on the legislature to provide health insurance to nearly 200,000 Mississippians living below 138% of the federal poverty level. He believes that accepting the offer of $700 million for the expansion is crucial. The House and Senate conferees will be meeting to discuss differing Medicaid expansion plans and potential solutions. Coverage will be available on 12 News at 6.
