Murder suspect denied bond
SUMMARY: An illegal immigrant from El Salvador, Julio Paneda, was denied bond after being accused of shooting and killing a woman in Hattisburg. He had his first court appearance with the district attorney stating that Paneda was ineligible for bond due to a hold from Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The Hattiesburg police department has handed over the case to ICE. Paneda is being prosecuted for first-degree murder by the district attorney's office before any potential federal charges. The victim, Josie Windam, was found dead on a sidewalk. The wife of the victim, DMA Bill, has also spoken out about the incident.

Hattiesburg High students asked to consider careers as first responders
