Missouri Supreme Court to hear arguments on Amendment 3, Ashcroft decertifies petition
SUMMARY: Sure! Please provide the content you would like summarized.
The Missouri Supreme Court is hearing arguments Tuesday as to whether Amendment 3 will stay on the Missouri ballot. If passed, it could restore abortion rights back in the state. But right now, it’s up in the air if it will even be on the ballot at all.
Secretary of State John Ashcroft certified the amendment for the ballot last month. But yesterday, in a stunning reversal, he rescinded the certification following a ruling from Cole County Circuit Judge Christopher Limbaugh.
Judge Limbaugh ruled the petition failed to include sections of existing laws that would be repealed, making it in violation of state law. That petition was signed by over 380,000 voters.
The high court took the appeal after Judge Limbaugh ruled the reproductive rights amendment violated state law, and then Secretary Ashcroft decertified the amendment. In fact, it no longer appears on his office’s website.

World Bird Sanctuary sees rise in owls stuck in netting
SUMMARY: The World Bird Sanctuary in St. Louis has reported an increase in birds, particularly great horned owls, getting caught in soccer nets, as the area is on a migratory bird path. The transparency of soccer nets leads birds to mistake them for pathways while hunting. Recently, eight such entanglements were reported, with five birds successfully released and three still undergoing care. Injuries from struggling can be severe, including broken feathers and bones. If you find an entangled bird, it’s advised to contact the sanctuary for assistance. Awareness and prevention measures are crucial for protecting these birds during migration.
