One race on the runoff ballot Tuesday
SUMMARY: Lawmakers are planning to reach an agreement during a committee conference this session. The Secretary of State's office warns about misleading voting mailers that claim residents may not be registered to vote. These mailers are from the Voter Participation Center and are not official election letters. Absentee voting for the Republican runoff election in District Two between Ron Eller and Andrew Scott Smith ends tomorrow, with the election slated for next Tuesday. The winner will face Representative Bennie Thompson in November. Voting is available during normal business hours and at the local circuit clerk's office, with polls open from 7 AM to 7 PM on Tuesday.
Two Republicans are competing for the right to challenge 16-term Democratic incumbent Bennie Thompson in Mississippi's 2nd Congressional District. Ron Eller and Andrew Scott Smith were the top vote-getters in the March 12 primary, but neither received the vote majority needed to avoid Tuesday's runoff election.

Senate votes to pass Medicaid bill
SUMMARY: Nolan is reporting live from the State Capitol on the Medicaid expansion bill that passed in the Senate, but with a more conservative approach that only expands coverage to around 80,000 Mississippians. Pro-expansion lawmakers are not satisfied with this version and consider it unacceptable. However, many are glad the bill is still alive, especially since it passed with a veto-proof majority. Governor Tate Reeves opposes any Medicaid expansion bills and is willing to fight against them. Lawmakers from both chambers are planning to work on developing an agreement during a committee conference later this session that will require a two-thirds majority in favor.
