Illinois seeks compensation for residents exposed to radioactive waste
SUMMARY: Community leaders, including Congresswoman Nikki Burzynski and Mayor Tyrone Eccles, are advocating for compensation for residents exposed to radioactive waste from the former Dow Chemical Company site. Once a symbol of national strength, the area has become a source of health concerns due to years of radiation exposure. The site, which processed uranium and thorium from the nuclear weapons program, has been a dumping ground for radioactive materials. Despite the significant health impact, residents have not qualified for assistance under the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act. Burzynski pledged to continue efforts to include affected residents for compensation in upcoming legislation.

Some Metro East elected leaders are pushing for compensation for hundreds of residents who have been exposed to radioactive waste over the decades. On Sunday, those leaders announced they’re on a mission to do the right thing.

Meanwhile, Cooper, a lifelong Eagles enthusiast, expressed he’d prefer another Eagles Super Bowl win over an Oscar. Hamm has a history of sports loyalty to St. Louis teams, and his allegiance seems to have shifted from the Rams to the Chiefs, leaving St. Louis fans questioning his loyalties.
