Gov. Reeves holds Mississippi turkey pardon ahead of Thanksgiving

After nearly three years in office, Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves issued his first pardon.

It did not go to a person who was wrongfully convicted or an individual who had undergone some extreme character changes while . It went to a turkey named Ms. Wilhelmina Wishbone.

The name was chosen by first graders at the Presbyterian Day School in Clarksdale.

Jackson, MS, to host Zoo Camp for Spring Break

The Jackson Zoo is hosting a Spring Break camp March 13-16.

The Zoo Spring Break Camp, a popular program for youth ages 6 through 12, is back for 2023 for the first time in several years.

Angela White, Jackson Zoo recreation and director, said the camp was started about seven years ago but was temporarily suspended due to the pandemic and management transitions at the historic zoological park.

The camp will be held from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday, March 13, through Thursday, March 16.
