Derek Carr found what he was seeking in New Orleans
On Saturday morning, Derek Carr signed his contract with the New Orleans Saints for 4 years, $150 million with $100 million guaranteed.
Carr, a four-time Pro Bowler released by the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason, started all 142 regular-season games he played in for the Raiders, setting franchise records for completions (3,201), attempts (4,958), completion percentage (64.6), passing yards (35,222), and touchdowns (217) with 99 interceptions.
In 2022, the nine-year veteran completed 305 of 502 passes for 3,522 yards and 24 touchdowns with 14 interceptions. Carr was selected to play in the Pro Bowl from 2015-2017 and again in 2022 and has never thrown more than 14 interceptions in a season.
“A lot of what he (Drew Brees) said is probably why I'm sitting here today,” said Carr about his discussions with Brees prior to signing with the Saints. “You can tell he's a genuine, so a lot of what he had to say was going to carry weight with me.”

Willis Miller sentenced to 45 years in prison, mandatory
SUMMARY: Willis Miller was sentenced to 45 years in prison for killing Paisley “Gabby” Frazier while drinking and driving. Frazier died in an ATV crash, and another child was injured. The incident occurred in April 2022 and Miller was found guilty of aggravated DUI and aggravated assault. Frazier's mother, Caprice Thompson, expressed relief at the sentencing but acknowledged the pain of losing her daughter. District Attorney Scott Colom emphasized the seriousness of drinking and driving, noting Miller was driving 97 miles per hour on the wrong side of the road. Thompson hopes the case serves as a warning about the dangers of drinking and driving.

SUMMARY: Three reports were released containing JXN Water's sanitation revenue data from October to December 2023. Jackson's chief financial officer met with JXN Water to discuss the discrepancies in the data, revealing that only 50-53% of the billed sanitation revenue was collected. Jackson Mayor raised concerns about a possible rise in garbage bills due to low collection rates. However, JXN Water defended itself, stating that their collections exceeded costs for the city's new garbage contract. JXN Water declined to comment further on the issue.
