Brayland Skinner headlines early Mississippi Mud Monsters signees

John Carr named head football coach at Starkville High School

Drunk driver who killed Canton teacher sentenced to 23 years in prison

SUMMARY: Jordan Leah Sullivan, 33, was sentenced to 23 years in prison for the drunk driving death of Tyra Small-Jackson, a beloved teacher from Canton, Mississippi. On June 22, 2024, Sullivan, who had a blood alcohol content of .241, drove on the wrong side of Interstate 55, causing a crash that killed Small-Jackson. The teacher was named 2023-24 Teacher of the Year at Nicholls Middle School. Sullivan had purchased 20 mini bottles of liquor earlier that day and admitted to drinking. Despite the sentence, District Attorney Bubba Bramlett emphasized that nothing could bring back the victim.
